ATUM is looking for a Cell Line Development Production Associate to join our team.

ATUM (www.atum.bio) is a 19-year-old, world-leading bioengineering company of ~150 people. We conduct research to advance our in-house technology platforms and to develop new ways to apply them to solve important biotechnological or pharmaceutical deficiencies. The company has state-of-the-art capabilities in machine learning-assisted synthetic biology, and a suite of innovative technologies spanning protein and cellular engineering, gene synthesis, gene transfer, protein expression and manufacturing. The right candidate will have experience working within a biological safety cabinet and understand cell culture techniques. They will embrace working at the bench and understand the importance of aseptic techniques. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a collaborative environment and be able to adapt quickly and juggle multiple projects.

Requirements

Skills, Knowledge, and Requirements

  • Hands-on tissue culture experience working with mammalian cells
  • Experience maintaining suspension cultures, passaging, and monitoring cell growth
  • Experience expanding and preparing cells for production runs
  • Experience working in a biological safety cabinet
  • The ability to work collaboratively within and across departments
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time
  • Aseptic techniques
  • Prior experience working with cell counters and analyzers
  • Possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to complete projects under strict deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting while retaining impeccable organizational skills
  • Occasional weekend work as needed for the process

This position will move to a weekend work schedule once training is completed:

  • Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday work week

Education and Experience

  • BS/MS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related field with relevant experience, with 1-2 year of industry experience.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to frequently and repetitively move and/or pour a minimum of 5lbs (up to 25lbs may occasionally be required) as well as other physical activities, including:

  • Constantly opening and closing lab receptacles, including removing and adhering plate seals, twisting caps, lifting lids.
  • Occasionally ascending/descending a ladder to retrieve lab supplies.
  • Constantly positioning self to pour or pipette reagents used for the lab process, including large and small volumes.

This is an entry-level position within our mammalian protein purification group. The right candidate will be responsible for purification and characterization of a variety of protein types including therapeutic proteins, antigens and assay reagents expressed in mammalian cells. Proteins will be purified at various scales ranging from high throughput robotic purification to many grams. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively across departments and enjoy working in the lab.

Requirements

Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience in various protein purification techniques
  • Experience with standard molecular biology techniques
  • Knowledge of chromatography techniques, including affinity, ion exchange, and size exclusion chromatography
  • Knowledge of AKTA platform is a plus
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Experience with a Laboratory Information Management System is a plus
  • Inventory and coordination of consumables
